Lisa Sylvestre is a Windsor/Detroit based multi-media artist with a background in quilting, tailoring and in photography. Her work is primarily focused on textile explorations of industrial Windsor/Detroit. Lisa, operating under asil, runs a textile + dye studio which holds classes, hosts a weekly community sewing circle, and curates the asil gallery and shop, bringing together talented local artists. Along with Jodi Green of Levigator Press, Asil is engaged with an annual Daily Stitch project and hosts an annual pop-up studio, the Mending Room, at ArtSpeak Gallery in Windsor. Free entry for weekly Sewing Circle! Embroidery, mending, knitting, crochet, hand quilting and everything in between: we want it all! Bring along whatever you’re working on and while this is not a formal class, we’re hoping for lots of sharing and learning, storytelling and joyful making. Sewing Circle happens every Tuesday from 6-8pm at the asil studio.
